With it being official that Gary Ross is not coming back for Catching Fire. I would just like to say Thank You. You brought one of my favorite books to life in a more incredible way then I ever imagined. I know I’m speaking for most if not all fans when I say you will be deeply missed! Tributes will support your forever for doing what you did for us Gary! <3 The three finger salute means thanks, it means admiration and it means good by to someone you love, We Will Miss You Gary! <3

If I personally knew you I would give you the biggest hug ever and say thank you….But I don’t know you. So I’m just gonna have to go with this.
I had doubts about the Hunger Games coming to life but you proved all of them wrong. You did everything right from the moment you chose to direct the Hunger Games. The cast and crew says you were the best director ever and I have to agree. I love you and thank you for all the amazing work you’ve done and I’ll never forget you for making the Hunger Games what it is today. You have proven time and time again that you’re a fan just like all of us and for that I thank you so much for doing what no one else could! Thank you so much. For real. That’s like the millionth time I said it but really, you’ve done so much. I three-finger salute you because it means thanks, it means admiration, it means goodbye to someone you love. And now…I’m just crying…Because you were perfect.
You’re BOSS!

I’m not sure if this message goes out to post on this website, but if it does, I need to say: Thank you Gary Ross. I don’t think I could describe it in any other words. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It would take me forever to explain my full amount of thanks I feel <3
Dear Gary Ross,
I cannot express in words the thanks and appreciation I have for you. You have made my favorite book in the world into a movie that represents it perfectly. The message of the book is so important, and I was afraid it would get lost in the movie, but thanks to you it didn’t. Even if the Catching Fire movie is stunning and I love it, I’ll always wonder, every time I watch it, what your version would have looked like and that’s the saddest thing of all. Katniss says the three finger gesture from her district “means thanks. It means admiration. It means goodbye to someone you love” so without further ado:
Sincerely,
A humble fan
P.S. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Dear Gary,
I wish I could personally thank you for everything you’ve done for this franchise. The movie could not have been any better. In fact, it was close to perfection. You completely understood everything that was important in the books. You understood to not glamorize the violence, you understood Katniss and her motives, and you most definitely understood how cruel and unfair the Capitol was. You helped create a cast who portrayed all their characters amazingly. So Gary, from the entire fandom, I want to thank you for everything. You mean so much to a lot of us, and especially to me. I wish that you could’ve gone on to finish up the movies, but I know nothing is fair in life. We’ve definitely learned that from the books. We love you so much, and it won’t be the same without you.May the odds be EVER in your favor,
Halee
Well, I made a video expressing how I feel about Gary Ross not returning to direct Catching Fire. I also spoke about how, whether he realizes or not, he changed my life and affected my life in so many ways. I hope that he gets to see this video. I will always be thankful to Gary for bringing the wonderful book that THG is to life. Jennifer and Josh were right and I believed them when they said that the movie was made BY fans for fans. The film backed up their claims. I know Gary Ross left because he felt like he couldn’t commit to such a short time frame to create and bring to life the vision that he has/had for Catching Fire. Whoever decides to step up and direct Catching Fire, if you’re reading this, just know that I hope the odds are ever in your favor and that you have some pretty big shoes to fill.
Gary Ross set the bar of expectations really high and I just hope that the next person up for director is ready and up for the challenge. Thank you Gary Ross for, as I said before, bringing the wonderful book that is THG to life. The first words out of my mouth after seeing the movie at the world premiere in Los Angeles last month were, “Gary Ross is a genius”. and if you ever read this or see my video Gary Ross, thank you. I just don’t know what else to say. I mean I am pretty bummed out that he won’t be returning but I understand his reasons. All I can say is that I hope jhe returns for Mockingjay. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Dear Gary,
You are the most brilliant director I have ever seen. You made a beautifully amazing movie. I don’t think anyone could make The Hunger Games as perfect as you did. I am so sad that you aren’t directing Catching Fire because you would have done that perfectly as well. We will miss you and I hope you have a good 2012! Thank you Gary Ross.
Sincerely,
Violet
Mr. Gary Ross,
I am very saddened to hear that you will not be returning to direct Catching Fire. I do, however, respect your decision and the reasons you give for it. We all greatly appreciate what you have done with The Hunger Games and thank you for putting your heart and soul into it. I really felt that you not only were passionate about, but had a deep understanding of the source material and wanted to maintain the integrity of the series in the book-to-film translation. And beacuse of that, you gained must trust and my respect. You accomplished something very special with this movie, and I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.
We salute you.Sincerely,
Hannah
Dear Gary,
At this point all we can really do is thank you. Thank you for everything you did to make The Hunger Games what it needed to be, what it was supposed to be. Thank you for the perfect cast, and for your devotion and passion for the movie. More then that though thank you for your devotion and passion for the entire masterpiece that is Suzanne’s Trilogy because I, and many others, believe that it was your passion and your devotion that is what led you to make the decision you did. Although we will deeply miss you and hope for your return with Mockingjay, we thank you.
All our love,
The Tribute’s of The Hunger Games
